 Hello, and welcome to my blog!

My my name is Austin Brown, and I am an attorney in New York, and a doctoral student in law at the Sorbonne in Paris. My legal work and doctoral studies don't have a lot to do with each other at this time, but maybe that will change as my research progresses. 

I'm a legal generalist in New York, in the sense that I deal with a lot of different everyday issues, particularly in business law and real estate. I'm more of a litigator than a transactional attorney, but I'm always trying to improve at both. 

As far as my doctoral dissertation work is concerned, I'm writing about the impact of Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) information, and how that information, and non-financial reporting and rating impact investor decision making and corporate performance. I'm not in a comparative law department, but my dissertation is comparative, with chapters about the legal regime in the United States and the European Union, using France, for the most part, when looking at laws and regulations for the national competent authorities (I'll explain this more later). My dissertation is going to be in English (mostly), but there will be some legal French thrown in. I will try to provide translations of everything when I have the time. 

I'm also planning studying for the Paris bar exam in March at the EFB, so I'll probably write about that at some point, too.

Je m'appelle Austin Brown, et je suis avocat à New York et doctorant en droit privé à la Sorbonne à Paris. Mon travail et mes études doctorales n'ont pas beaucoup en commun, mais ça peut changer pendant mes recherches. 

Je suis un généraliste légal à New York, au sens que je travail avec beaucoup de choses différents quotidiennes, particulièrement en droit des affaires et immo. Je suis plutôt avocat plaidant que spécialiste en transactions, mais j'essaye toujours de m'améliorer en les deux. 

En tant que concerne mes travaux doctoraux, je rédige une thèse sur l'impact d'infos "Environmental Social and Governance" (ESG) et comment ces infos et le reporting et ratings non-financièrs affectent les decisions prises par les investisseurs et performance des enterprises.  Je ne suis pas dans un département de droit comparé, mais ma thèse est comparative, avec des chapitres sur le régime juridique des États-Unis et de l'Union européenne, en utilisant la France, pour la plupart, lors de l'examen des lois et règlements pour les autorités nationales compétentes (je vais expliquer cela plus tard). Ma thèse sera rédigée en anglais (principalement), mais il y aura un peu de français juridique. J'essaierai de fournir des traductions de tous les textes lorsque j'en aurai le temps.

Je prévois également d'étudier l'examen du barreau de Paris en mars à l'EFB, et j'écrirai donc probablement sur ce sujet à un moment donné.
